What Is Cleveland's Blondes vs. Brunettes?

Blondes vs. Brunettes is the newest Powder Puff Football sensation that has raised more than $1.5 million nationally for the Alzheimer’s Association to help fight Alzheimer’s Disease. Now it’s time to bring this epic ladies flag-football game to Cleveland!

Two teams – divided to reflect the age-old rivalry between Blondes and Brunettes – compete in a flag football game. Red heads and everyone else in between are free agents and choose their team. While only one team will arise victorious - all of us will win- because they battle to end Alzheimer’s.

Ladies play, but anyone can coach, join a committee or make a donation to BvBCLE. Learn how you can get involved and sign up today!

We are currently building the full BvBCLE web site, filled with team rosters, donation tools, photos, videos and twitter feeds - oh my! Stay connected and watch us grow!

Before Blondes battle Brunettes on the gridiron, join us for events to meet others, socialize, network and increase awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association and BvBCLE. Click here to check out our next pre-game event!

Join a BvBCLE Committee

Whether you join the fight on the field or prefer to help tackle the disease from the sidelines, you’re invited to become a member of one of our committees:

  • Logistics - Do you like planning events? Then, this is the perfect place for you! You can help us plan pre-game events, the after party, and even Game Day!
    • Create a design competition among local college students for the player jerseys
    • Organize the half-time show for game day
    • Secure and oversee event safety, merchandise, ticket sales, photographers
    • Plan and promote pre-game events, game day and the after party
  • Marketing - Join our street team and help spread the word about BvBCLE across town! Whether you’re a marketing mogul or new to promoting an event, there is something for everyone.
    • Garner support on the media (radio, sports personalities, print, TV)
    • Create a buzz through social media
    • Ask your favorite bars and restaurants to promote the event on their big screen TVs and in the check caddies
    • Distribute fliers to coffee shops and other places with community boards
    • Post the event on community calendars and submit for inclusion in e-news
  • Sponsorships & In-Kind Donations - When it comes to sponsorships, the old adage rings true: it’s all about who you know! Just like we all know someone who has been affected by Alzheimer’s disease, the same is true for the business world- we all know someone who is a potential sponsors or in-kind donor. From gathering information to approaching companies, prior experience is not necessary to help bring in the money!
    • Ask committee members, players and coaches to share their professional contacts to help secure sponsorships and in-kind donations
    • Based on existing relationships, match solicitors with potential sponsors and in-kind donors
    • Provide materials and assistance to solicitors for “making the ask”
  • Team Recruitment & Fundraising - Men and women of all hair colors are needed to help recruit players and coaches for the blonde and brunette teams.
    • Work with logistics committee to plan and promote events to players, coaches, and referees
    • Share fundraising ideas with players and coaches and hold them accountable for reaching their fundraising goal of at least $250
    • Schedule team practice dates and locations as well as handle communication with players and coaches about upcoming events, fundraising incentives, etc.
    • Secure in-kind donations for game day celebrations such as team and MVP trophies, etc.

Committee meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every month, starting on January 11, 2012.
